TUNICA, Miss. (June 1, 2014) – MGM Resorts International’s (NYSE: MGM) Gold Strike Casino Resort recently began hosting a monthly culinary series at the resort’s Buffet Americana. The buffet will feature specialty-themed cuisine throughout each month and for holidays, in addition to its regular menu options.
Buffet Americana, which celebrated its one-year anniversary on May 31, is the culmination of a multi-year, multimillion-dollar property transformation and has raised the culinary bar in Tunica with fresh gourmet selections, interactive food stations and an intriguing design concept by renowned Philadelphia-based firm SLDesign.
The culinary series comes as part of Gold Strike’s effort to always provide exciting new experiences for guests. In May, the theme at Buffet Americana is Italian specialties, featuring dishes such as tomato mozzarella salad, tortellini salad, cioppino, pork caprese, chicken cacciatore, snapper piccata, cannoli and tiramisu – to name a few.
In June, the buffet will feature Hawaiian cuisine such as huli huli marinated chicken, teriyaki-beer beef tips, mango barbecue mahimahi, roasted Hawaiian marinated pork loin, Polynesian rice, pan-seared salmon with a teriyaki glaze and more. In July, all-American cuisine will be featured in honor of Independence Day, with dishes such as barbecue beef and pork spare ribs, pulled pork, pecan-crusted rainbow trout, watermelon salad, strawberry shortcake, roasted suckling pig and more. The buffet’s featured cuisines for the rest of the year will include Southwestern in August, a “Taste of Paris” in September, Oktoberfest in October, fall harvest in November and a holiday feast in December.

They wanted a smoke-free gaming area, and we dedicated our entire second-floor to be smoke-free. They wanted more family-friendly activities, and we began booking more family-oriented shows. Our goal is to raise the bar of the guest experience by providing world-class service and amenities and ensuring that everyone who steps into our resort has an entertaining, comfortable and enjoyable visit.”
The 13,500-square-foot restaurant emphasizes fresh, made-to-order meals at stations designed to recreate the feeling of an upscale specialty food market. Many stations – including those offering pasta, omelets, wood-fired pizza and a customized Mongolian grill, to name just a few – will allow diners to design their own dishes while chefs prepare them fresh on the spot. Buffet Americana has introduced a contemporary cooking concept to the Mid-South with delicious kabobs, tikka skewers and freshly baked Indian breads prepared in the only tandoori oven found in Mississippi. Other stations offer traditional Southern cooking favorites and seafood selections while highlighting ingredients from local farms and suppliers. Seafood lovers can enjoy all-you-can-eat snow crabs every Friday and Saturday night for $27.99. The seafood buffet spotlights a variety of seafood dishes such as peel-and-eat shrimp, fried shrimp, blackened tilapia with cheddar cheese grits, Jonah crab claws, oysters, sushi and much more. Buffet Americana guests can also enjoy complimentary beer and wine every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night – the area’s only restaurant offering of its kind.
Buffet Americana is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9:30 p.m.; Friday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.to midnight; Saturday 8 a.m. to midnight; and Sunday 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Breakfast is $11.99; lunch is $14.99; and dinner is $21.99. The Champagne Brunch, offered Saturday and Sunday, features a variety of dishes and complimentary bloody marys and mimosas for $21.99.
